Some Random Thoughts

It's Monday, so I'm working in the ARC again. I'm still a bit sick, but I'm on the mend. Igor has been very happy these days. I've also found out that he really likes Fast Times at Ridgemont High. I continue to paint chickens day and night, and still haven't finished a single painting, but I'm working on four so it might be a while. I'll post when I'm done them. In the meantime, here are some random jokey-things to ponder:

Toilet Seat
It isn't widely known, but the first toilet seat was invented by a Polish scientist in the 18th century. The invention was later modified by a Jewish inventor who put a hole in the seat.

Ten Commandments
The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments in a Courthouse: You cannot post "Thou Shalt Not Steal," "Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery" and "Thou Shall Not Lie" in a building full of lawyers, judges and politicians! It creates a hostile work environment.

Zero Gravity
When NASA first started sending up astronauts, they quickly discovered that ball-point pens would not work in zero gravity. To combat this problem, NASA scientists spent a decade and $12 million developing a pen that writes in zero gravity, upside-down, on almost any surface including glass and at temperatures ranging from below freezing to over 300 C. The Russians used a pencil. Your taxes are due again -- enjoy paying them.

Cows
Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that our government can track a cow born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she sleeps in the state of Washington. And they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 11 million illegal aliens wandering around our country.Plus they can have a drivers license and board airliners.

Our Constitution
They keep talking about drafting a Constitution for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys, it's worked for over 200 years and hey, we're not using it anymore.

Dying

Agh... I'm so sick right now... this is the 2nd night in a row I have been unable to sleep, following the 3rd day in a row being sick. However, I've been in pain much much longer than that due to an ulcer in my throat. It all started last week...

The ulcer is nearly unbearable. The only time it was worse was in freshman year when I had two ulcers in my throat. My doctor has said there's nothing I can do about it (I don't believe him), so I just have to live with getting these several times a year.

Then, this week it got incredibly cold down here, so we turned the heat on. Little did I know that the heat vent was a toxic cloud of disease, and when the first gust of stagnant, putrid air hit my face I knew I was in for trouble.

Now I've got a horrible horrible cold... I feel like I'm going to die. I just want to be able to sleep so I can go to the doctor's tomorrow, but it seems like tomorrow will never come.

I just have t owait and play Half Life 2 until the sun comes up, I guess.

Pray. For. Mojo.

Finally Back In Florida

It sounds weird to say that, but I really am glad to be back. This place feels like home more than being in NJ does.

Igor is also really happy to not be travelling anymore. He seems to be a lot more vocal and curious now that he's spent so much time learning how birds act from the lovebirds. He's been very lively since returning, and loves to scream at the birds outside my window. It's really nice to see him so happy.

Every time I make that drive from NJ to FL, I always think of tons of things to write on here. Whether it's funny ideas, stories, or reasons why I don't like where I am at the moment, the same thing always happens: I forget them all. I guess it's a side effect of the long drive -- the brain loses the ability to record new ideas when you miss a lot of sleep, and the repetition of the drive would make me automatically forget most of what happens. Anyway, that's that.

We have a new roommate. I've only seen her for a few moments so far. Her name is Jana, I think... at least it rhymes with that. I may just call her Banana to avoid any embarassing confusion.

My schedule this semester is great. I only have 1 class a day, and I'm taking a video class just for fun. I plan on starting my senior project tonight in order to keep on top of things.

I've caught myself up on most things now; bills, bank stuff, and that sort of thing. I've still got a little bit of chore-work to do, but it's a light load for the moment and I feel really good about that. I still have an insane debt from Christmas shopping. That'll take some time to pay off but at least it looks like I'm in a situation now where I'll be able to pay it off instead of raking up finance charges.

My plan for this site this year is to turn it into a "professional" website to direct clients to (me being an illustrator and all). The blog will still exist of course, but I don't want it to be the home page of my site anymore.

Sad Bird

For the winter, I put Igor's cage next to the lovebirds' cage so he would be in the company of some other birds and not feel lonely. He was pretty happy there for a while, but recently he's been much more eager to get out of the cage and go to other parts of the house, and he spends his time puffed up on a perch looking depressed, and no longer faces the lovebirds.

As it turns out, the lovebirds have been mating like crazy and poor Igor gets to watch them every time. That bird is going to be scarred for at least this whole semester, I imagine.

First Post of 2005!

Woooh! Exciting!

Since I'm going back to school this week, I thought I'd make finally make that post that highlights the work I did over last semester. However, I didn't scan all the work I did, so that's kind of a pointless effort until I do that.

But I can at least show the last picture I made last semester... it was an Illustrator project, a continuation of the picture I made for Journey To The West. I'll post both pictures, just to give you some more to look at.
