Senior Trip #2

Senior Trip #2
March 29 & 30, 2002

City Walk and Sea World
Group: Rona
Park Rating: What can beat a day and a night with your girlfriend?

Well, situations worked out right, and I managed to go on the senior trip again! Haha. It was great walking past people who I knew from last year, staring at me as if they've seen a ghost, not quite sure if they saw what they just saw. Even better were the teachers. Ol' Roosey was pretty surprised to see me, and he got pretty mad when I tried to sneak onto the bus to go back to the hotel with the class. Probably the funniest part was when Rona and I walked past my old principal, holding hands, and he looked at us as if Rona had picked up some total stranger in Florida. Then he starting making the confused face that people make when trying to remember someone's name, then he remembered who I was and the joke was spoiled. Oh well.

Okay, I really don't need to tell you the details of the parks themselves. They're your ordinary theme parks -- we saw animals, there were rides, plenty of loud music, and being Spring Break, there were plenty of teenagers baked out of their minds. And plus, I wasn't going to see animals or go on rides; I was going to see Rona.

Well, I guess the most adventuresome part of this trip was trying to get there in the first place. I wanted to make sure that nothing could go possibly wrong (as it always somehow does) to prevent me from getting to see Rona. So I made arrangements with two people to give me a ride to Orlando, and both of them said OK. So anyway, weeks go by, everything is OK. Then the final week rolls around, and Driver #1 tells me her car is broken down. No problem, though, cause Driver #2 is there for me. Then the next day, Driver 1 tells me that her car is getting fixed, so I let Driver 2 off the hook. So Driver 1 gets her car back, but those fools at the car place didn't fix everything... so the car was still broken (the battery got drained). However, by then, Driver 2 had already made plans. Understandable, of course, since I told him all was good. The only problem was that now I needed to find a new driver! So I ran around desperately telling Drivers 3, 4, and 5 that I really need a ride, and offering everything from a lifetime of massages to all the money in my bank account if they can take me to Orlando. Everyone was busy though, and whether I could go or not kept changing from 'yes' to 'no' and back again to the point that I could just keep telling my girlfriend that plans had changed again.

Friday was the craziest day of all: I had told Rona that I couldn't make it afterall, and I was really really upset (not at the drivers, at the situation). But then, Driver #1 says that if we can get to a Sears that we don't know where it is, and get a battery, and change the battery somehow, all after our classes and before its too late to go, then she could take me. So after a long day of welding in class, we found a ride, got to the mystery Sears and got a battery! Phew! But then... we couldn't find the dude with the tools to change the battery. So we ran around frantic until we found him and pulled him out of Tae Kwon Do. After a bit of working with stripped bolts, he successfully changed the battery. It was then just a matter of getting on the road as fast as possible. So I changed my shirt, washed my hands and face to get the soot from welding off my body, and we crammed into her car and left. Phew!

So just to finish the story, let me say that I slept about 2 hours the entire weekend, didn't get to shower, change any of my clothes, or brush my teeth. And all I ate the weekend was a milkshake at 4 am, and a funnel cake at Sea World.
